Derby theatre treasure Island experience

15th-27th November

I was fortunate to be able to work for two weeks on Derby theatres production of Treasure Island helping within the wardrobe department one week in the wardrobe departments main workshop and one assisting on the production’s technical week. My duties included embellishing naval Bicorns and jackets with gold braid to simulate Rank, sewing buttonholes into the community cast costumes, attaching, and securing fasteners to hats, naming/marking garments to help with organizing costumes for laundry and repairing/general maintenance of costumes over the course of the production’s technical week. I learnt a lot about the processes that go into making sure a productions wardrobe is ready for the show as well as the amount of work it takes to maintain the wardrobe during its run.
